Weekend in Chicago city ... fuuhh ....

Yeap.. our weekend is in Chicago city :D

Thanks to Elaine, Izabel and Michelle who is kind enough to take us there.

We stayed in Seneca Hotel, right along the Michigan Avenue, the heart of shopping centre in Chicago city.
We managed to book it online, for only USD 77.

And the best part of the hotel, they even have a JACUZZI in the tub !!!

Our first destination is HAPRO Studio.
What's that? Hehe.. This is where they shoot all the Oprah Winfrey Show :D

At night, we went up at John Hancock building to the 96th Floor to see the night view of Chicago city.
And ... yes.. it is sooo beautiful.

The next day, we had breakfast at The Cheesecake factory.
Strange enough, we didn't had cheese cake, but choc waffle.
Nyum ... nyum ...

Then, we did more shopping ... and moreee shopping.
After we're tired of shopping (aka no more money), we went to Millenium Park.
They have a beautiful "Big Bean".
It is shaped beautifully, so the reflection on the silver replica managed to show many...many buildings of Chicago city.

(Besides the building, also the reflection of me :D)

Many, many other pictures of Chicago city ...

At the end of the day, we go to the train station and go home.
Home sweet home. (ermm.. temporary home)

We triggered the fire alarm ... :D

Noo.. dun wori ... no fire in our apartment.

But before I go to sleep, the fire is ALMOST out, so I closed the chimney door.
So, the cold air won't come in. (Advised from people here, okehh)

And, seriously there is no smoke.

But suddenly, the fire alarm here triggered, SO LOUDLY !!!
"SMOKE DETECTED IN THE HOUSE" ...
I think it wakes up all our neighbour.

I keep on climbing to turn the stupid thing at the ceiling.
Managed to turn it off after much climbing.

And when we thought it's over, again at 2am, the stupid thing trigerred again.
"CARBON MONOXYDE DETECTED IN THE HOUSE" ...

Again ... I climbed ... &#%&@$%
And I promised to myself, if it trigerred again, I'm just going to cut the wires.

And it didn't :D

p.s: Lai, we use the old way to build the fire, the firewood :P

More snow, lunch, dinner and I'm getting fat !!!

We got about 4 inches of snow today ... it is sooo beautiful.
And I tried doing the snowman, but it is so hard.
It keep on falling apart.
So, the only thing I managed to build is .... the snowman's shit. Hehehe...

And today, Laura took us to India House for lunch.
It feels sooo like the 24 hour mamak restaurant we have back home, with nan and tandoori chicken, only that this place is much more trendy.
The tandoori chicken smells sooo nice, but I cannot taste it bcuz of the halal thingy.
So, while others keep saying how tasteful it is, I keep on eating my rice and vegetables.. Uhuhuhu..
Another thing I'll definitely get when I go home ... Tandoori Chicken. Nyum, nyum

(From left: Megan, Seema, Laura, me, Caroline)

And for dinner, we have ... ermm... an International Dinner, hehe.
Yeap, we have 2 Malaysian (that's me and Seema), 2 technical people from Australia, Liz and Alan ... and also 2 US people, Jeannie and Jack, who sponsored our dinner :D

(From left: Alan, Jack, me)

(From left: Liz, Seema, Jeannie)

It was a great dinner at a place called Wildfire.
And maybe, we were influenced with the restaurant's name (actually bcuz it is sooo cold), when we get back to the apartment, we build our first fire :D

It feels so warm and comfy ... haihhh... bestnyee
Feels like camping ;D

And ... I'm getting fat with all the eating and sleeping.
Dun be suprised when I get back, and I become chubby ... uhuhuhu..
Futsal...badminton...missing you!!!

ZERO Farenheit today ..

Yeap ... it's 0 Farenheit today (-18 celcius).
Grrrrr... see the temperature here in Stella's car ... uhuhu ...

And, ever imagine how a car will look like if we put'em in a freezer? :P

Today, Stella took us to Gurnee Mills Mall, for some shopping :D

And on the way there, there is a .. ermm.. a "Campak Duit Toll".
Why? There is no toll booth, no people and no STOP bar.
People just toss their coin there (with a specific amount).
If they don't stop and toss the coin, there is a camera capturing their picture and they will get a summon for it. Huhhh ....

The mall is extremely big.
We did a looooott of shopping. Yesss !!!
And we had lunch together with Stella's daughter and grandson, Juan at Rainforest Cafe.
The Cafe is sooo jungle like, with frogs & crocodile at the entrance, gorrilas at the back of our table, snakes .. everything.

And we had a "Volcano" desert ... WOOHOO !!!
NYUM .. NYUM ...

THANK YOU SO MUCH, STELLA !!!
We really appreciate it.

Seriously, everything just become ... iced !!!
Laura gave us a ride home, and her car wiper get stucked to the windshield.
And the car here, have ... ermm.. heater everywhere in the car.
At the windshield (which succesfully melted the ice at the wiper), and also they have a heater at the seats.
While you're seating, suddenly you can feel your butt getting hot .. hehe

Here's another picture of the beautiful snow.
Took this at the back at the office, with my handphone camera (sorry, the quality is not that good)

Yeah, I know, I know ...
I'm having a boring nite life here.

And people said that I look so happy in all those picture.
Actually, me and Seema realllyy can't wait to go home, Malaysia sweet Malaysia.

Seriously, you guys really dunno how great Malaysia is ...
With all the food, the weather, and prayer's room provided in Malaysia.
Here, I need to book a conference room everytime I wanna do my prayers.
Luckily there's another Muslim girl, Ayesha who taught me how to book the room.
And just imagine, how other people look at me, when I wanna wash my leg at the sink in the toilet .. hehe.. but.. who cares, right :D

At last, orang kampung is holding real snow in hand !!!
It is sooo beautiful, and feels so soft.
Doesn't feel a bit like the one in Genting Highland or Mines Wonderland ... (ermm, are they still having the snow house in Mines Wonderland ... I wonder)

Tengok2, you can even see the snow is falling :D

And here Seema, showing her first snowball ... hehe

Looong Sunday ...

Only managed to get my sleep at 6am, and wake up again at 11am.
Haihh...

Luckily, Kyle from the office let us borrow few of his DVDs.
Able to watch "Little Miss Sunshine" last night, which is really a good movie.
Highly recommended.

Did my first laundry today.
They have washing and dryer machine right here in the apartment.
It's soo cool and easy ...

Then, again did a little cooking... hehe..
Nothing special, just nasi putih, sambal tumis, telur goreng and timun.
Really miss all the Malaysian food already.
(Masak nasi without rice cooker tau ... kena jaga api atas dapur lagik. Hope my mom would be proud of me :D ... kan mak???)

And this is the true comment from Seema about the food, no exagerrating or anything :D
"It's very tasty and it taste just like real Malaysian food.
And, I REALLY like the goreng pisang the other day.
It is not a fake smile :D"

Tried to cook nasi lemak, but they don't sell santan here in Chicago :(
I guess because you cannot find pokok kelapa around here, hehe.
And also no asam keping for sambal tumis, tapi.... telan jer laaa.
And the onion ... are sooo BIG !!! As big as a tennis ball !!!

Later after lunch, we go catch a movie at Regal Cinemas.
We watched "27 Dresses".
And we bought the MEDIUM pop corn set. Just see how big the term MEDIUM here ...

And tomorrow is Monday, have to start working again. Zzzzz ...

One of them even come to our porch, it is sooo cute.

And in the afternoon, Laura came to our apartment with her 6-year old twins.
They are so adorable and talkative.

Training ... training ... training ...

My 2nd day training today ...

The system is very much similar with the one we have in Cyberjaya, but it's WAAYYY MORE ADVANCED !!!

To those PEs from Cyberjaya who's reading this ... listen to this !!!

- NO MORE SYNCHRONIZE
- NO MORE COMPARE TO LAST PRINT AND JOT DOWN THE JOB FILES
- NO MORE EXPORTING
- NO MORE ENTERING RUNNING HEAD
- N0 MORE ENTERING THE FOLIO FILES !!! (It auto-generate the page number, including DASH-PAGES!!!)

Seriously, they do this with just a few clicks away !!!

I am soooo "jakun" when they show this steps to me.
Made me thinking, what we've done in the past two++ years is seriuously ketinggalan zaman ...
If only we can use this system ini Cyberjaya, the PEs definitely can goyang kaki more often ... (ermm...it's not like we haven't done that already :D )

Here's me and Seema in the training room... (taking a breaakkk....)

And also, managed to take Wolters Kluwers big sign board on our way to the office.
It's kinda half though.. hehehe.. hey, it's hard to take picture in a moving car.

Nothing much happen today, still catching up with our sleep.
Seema is still sleeping since 6pm. I think she can only get up tomorrow morning.
(She didn't get any sleep last nite !!!)

p.s: My goreng pisang really taste good.. okay !!!

Thursday, January 10, 2008

It's 12 midnight and I'm cooking GORENG PISANG !!!

Me and Seema still having trouble to sleep.
We're really tired and tried to sleep, but our body keep telling us it's still evening.

So, what did I do?
I cook goreng pisang !!! Hahaha !!!
I know this is not the right banana to use, and the ingredient is not just flour, salt and sugar ... but ... a girl got to do what a girl got do :D

And it turn out GREAT !!! (Maybe it's the kempunan thingy, that even tak sedap pun rasa sedap... hehe)
And even Seema said "Sedappp !!!" and give two thumbs up :P

p.s: Thanks to those who leave a comment, especially Irfan who's going to leave a comment in my every entry. (that's what he says ... )
